Location & Hours of Operation | Receiving ILS Orders | Due Dates & Renewals Lending Eisenhower Library Materials | Contact Information The Lending Section of Interlibrary Services accepts requests for loans and photocopies of Eisenhower Library materials (including those in the Libraries Service Center and Bloomberg Building locations) from libraries around the world. Only libraries may submit requests; if you are an individual who wishes to receive Eisenhower Library materials, please speak to your local library's interlibrary loan department. If you wish to request materials from another Johns Hopkins library, please contact that library directly. The following items are not available for lending through interlibrary loan: - Entire volumes or issues of periodicals
- Reference Collection materials
- Reserve materials
- Special Collections materials
- Hutzler Undergraduate Reading Room materials
- All audio-visual materials, including sound recordings, videos, and software
- Microforms (except to reciprocal libraries)
- Master's theses
- JHU Dissertations written after 1977. Pre-1978 dissertations can be loaned if a second copy is available or photocopied if only one copy exists. Post-1966 dissertations may be purchased through Bell + Howell. The Eisenhower Library's University Archives department provides a fuller explanation of the policies regarding theses and dissertations. The Archivist has final say over they can circulate through interlibrary loan.
- Requests can be submitted via OCLC (symbol: JHE), the preferred method.
- ALA and IFLA forms are also accepted. Forms can be submitted via fax, email, Ariel or mail.
- Telephone requests will not be accepted.
- Rush requests can usually be accepted; however, please call before submitting them to see if we have the time to process them.
- Loans are due back 42 days after the date the borrowing library receives the material.
- Items may be renewed once for an additional 42 days if no other JHU patrons require the material.
- All loaned items are subject to recall by the Eisenhower library at any time.
We prefer to bill though OCLC IFM. For non-IFM requests, an invoice will be sent with the material. Fees: - Loans: US $15 per title (up to 4 volumes) or 1.5 IFLA vouchers
- Photocopies: US $10 per article (up to 50 pages) or 1 IFLA voucher
- After 50 pages, cost is $.15 per page
The Eisenhower Library has entered into reciprocal agreements with several libraries (mostly large university research libraries) to expedite the exchange of library materials. Benefits include: - Waived service fees
- UPS delivery of materials
- Permission to borrow microfilm materials (including dissertations for which the library owns a microfilm copy)
The Eisenhower Library currently offers reciprocal lending to the CIRLA libraries, the MICUA libraries, any MILO libraries that submit requests through the Enoch Pratt Free Library, and other libraries who have signed one-on-one reciprocal agreements.
