Laura Amy Schlitz, librarian at Baltimore’s Park School and author of Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from a Medieval Village, will present the annual Paula U. Hamburger Friends Lecture.  Schlitz paints riveting portraits of 22 memorable medieval maidens, monks, and millers’ sons in this story set in an English village in 1225.

Exhibit:  Bound to Please: The Decorative Bindings in the Dorothy Scott Collection

Bound to Please is an exhibition of decorative bindings from the Dorothy Scott Collection.  The Exhibit highlights the various aspects of decorating a binding, from simple adornments on vellum bindings, to personalized bindings with coats of arms, such as Amorial bindings, to the beautifully gilt 18th -20th century English bindings, including the Cosway bindings of Reviere & Son, and in particular, one of the largest single collections of fore-edge paintings collected by one person.
