Special Collections is an integral part of the Sheridan Libraries, the main research facility of the Johns Hopkins University. The rare books, manuscripts, archives, sheet music, maps and photographs that make up Special Collections are in three locations. |
Altogether Special Collections consist of over 390,000 volumes, 8,200 feet of manuscripts and archives, 39,000 sheets of music, 2,000 maps, and 14,000 photographs. All collections are non-circulating and may be consulted by qualified researchers. Information about access, use and reprographic services is available on the Using Special Collections portion of our Web site. Most of the book and manuscript collections are cataloged in the Sheridan Libraries' online catalog. The Collections and Holdings section of our Web site details Special Collections' subject strengths. Other collection finding aids are accessible through the Web pages for Rare Books, Garrett Library, Peabody Library, Archives, Manuscripts, and Sheet Music. Queries about the collections can be directed to the appropriate staff listed by speciality. Exhibitions of Sheridan Libraries Special Collections are displayed in the Peabody Library exhibit hall and the Eisenhower Library. |
